In My Room is a self portrait project born from a moment of inspiration in the studio, answering a nostalgic siren call from my younger youth.

The digital exhibition will feature a collection of self portraits reflecting a time in my life when youthful self expression was introduced to a larger culture of heteronormative restrictions. 

The resulting reaction was to retreat to a place of safety and peace - In My Room.

a closer look : I M P R I N T S | MEXICO - casa wabi

Casa Wabi is a coastal arts sanctuary located in Puerto Escondido, Mexico. It was founded by artist Bosco Sodi in 2014 and designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Tadao Ando.

Ando’s signature use of raw concrete within this Oaxacan landscape embodies the Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi - beauty in imperfection and the relationship architecture has with nature.

The location served as a backdrop for an intimate wedding and was a special introduction for me to this region of Mexico. It has made a lasting imprint.

Last year, I lost myself in the colors, textures, and emotions of Mexico City and Casa Wabi in Puerto Escondido. This exhibition is the result of that immersion, these images are I M P R I N T S.

I’m honored to have the show introduced by my friend and curator, Mary Lynn Buchanan, who I could not have done this without and whose foreword perfectly captures the heart of this journey.

This also marks the beginning of my seasonal exhibition series for 2026 - the first of four chapters.

I M P R I N T S : chapultepec castle

Chapultepec Castle sits at the top of a hill in Mexico City’s Chapultepec Park. The castle took nearly 80 years to complete and carries time in its bones. The marbled floor of the castle’s terrace reflects a history of war, splendor, and ghosts of futures past.
